INTRODUCTION

Conflict is an integral part of human existence, such that wherever there are two or more persons (whether in an organisation, family, religious places, and so on); it is bound to occur from time to time.  It is important to state that conflict in itself is not always negative; however, it becomes negative when it is excessive and affects the existence of harmonious relationship. 

Conflict is that clash or misunderstanding or disagreement between individuals arising from differences in thought process, perceptions, attitudes, understanding, requirements and sometimes even interests.  Conflict occurs amongst individuals as well as among countries, political parties, states, villages and towns.   When conflicts are not addressed or controlled on time, it could lead to undesirable situation even in the workplace (including fighting, working in silos, absenteeism, resignations, and the likes).  While conflict resolution tries to reduce or eliminate conflict, managing conflict or conflict management helps the involved parties to fashion out ways to tolerate each other within their relationship.

At the end of this training course, participants attending the Conflict Resolution and Management Workshop will be able to develop the following competencies:
